In the dynamically developing market for artificial intelligence tools, a new, promising company named Mintive is emerging, quickly gaining attention due to its founders' experience and an impressive list of investors. The company has already raised a total of $11 million, with the latest $7 million funding round led by Cowboy Ventures. Other investors include names such as Coatue, Operator Collective, and Hustle Fund, complemented by notable individual investors, including Okta co-founder Frederic Kerrest, former Google Chief Scientist Jeff Dean, and OpenAI co-founder Andrej Karpathy.
Mintive is led by Jiquan Ngiam and Vijay Vasudevan. Ngiam, the company's CEO, was a founding engineer at Coursera and later contributed to the development of neural networks at Google Brain. Vasudevan, the CTO, is widely known as one of the co-creators of TensorFlow, the original AI training platform that predated PyTorch.
Mintive enters the market with solutions for the management, security, and identity governance of enterprise AI agents. Their platform includes key components such as the MCP (Management Control Plane) gateway, which enables IT professionals to authorize which cloud services agents can access and what actions they can perform. Furthermore, it offers an LLM (Large Language Model) gateway that intelligently routes requests to various models and allows for effective cost management. The system also manages agent identities and permissions, which may differ from the permissions of the employees the agents serve, and includes monitoring that tracks the activity of all agents across the company. Additionally, enterprises have the option to create agents that proactively execute long-term tasks.
Although the market for AI agent management systems is exceptionally competitive—with offerings from giants like Amazon, Microsoft, OpenAI, and Anthropic, and many specialized products from LangChain, New Relic, and Rippling, as well as dozens of startups—Mintive strives to stand out. According to Ngiam's vision, their "secret ingredient" is extraordinary ease of use, stemming from the founders' extensive experience in developing enterprise artificial intelligence. The startup promises that setup is a matter of a few clicks.
Jiquan Ngiam emphasizes that the speed and ease of platform deployment often surprise customers. "We have refined all aspects of access and permission management to make deployment as simple as possible, with all complexity, such as sandboxes, resource, and memory management, hidden from the user and automatically managed."

This approach has already convinced over 50 enterprise customers since the product's launch in February, including Ro, Modern Treasury, University of Michigan, Coursera, Apax, and Stability AI. Aileen Lee, Managing Partner at Cowboy Ventures, expressed particular respect for Ngiam's prudence in fundraising. She notes that Mintive has raised $11 million, which contrasts with some agent-focused startups that raise enormous sums at high valuations.
Lee views this judicious approach to funding as a sign of professionalism, distinguishing it from the pursuit of 'vanity' funding rounds. She added that many companies inadvertently set themselves up for failure by focusing on the size of the investment round rather than on how much is actually needed to achieve progress. In a time when unprecedented sums are being raised, Mintive is building 'brick by brick' in an old-fashioned way.
